A Dayville, Oregon man is facing multiple charges after he was taken into custody by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers following his attempt to elude in a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest northwest of Bend.
On November 16, 2013 at approximately 9:32 p.m. an OSP trooper saw a 1994 Toyota Celica after it was reported stolen a few minutes earlier from the Bethlehem Inn in the 3700 block of N. Highway 97 in Bend. When the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver attempted to elude OSP while reportedly trying to ram the patrol car.
At approximately 9:35 p.m., the vehicle crashed in the 6300 block of OB Riley Road where the driver fled on foot. Troopers requested assistance from Bend police and Deschutes County deputies as they set up a security perimeter and looked for the suspect driver.
At approximately 9:41 p.m., a trooper found the suspect hiding in brush where he attempted to fight and resist arrest. A Taser was used to taken the suspect into custody. The suspect driver was identified as RICKY ALLEN ELLIOTT, age 50, from Dayville. He was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend for a mental health evaluation. He was cited and released to appear in Deschutes County Circuit Court by OSP and Bend police on the following charges:
* Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot
* Reckless Driving
* Recklessly Endangering Another Person
* Assaulting a Public Safety Officer
* Resisting Arrest
* Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree
* Misdemeanor Driving While Suspended
The vehicle's owner came to the scene and recovered the vehicle.
