Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to identify and locate a person sought in connection with an elude last Friday evening on a motorcycle along Interstate 5 north from Eugene/Springfield until officers lost sight of the motorcycle near the Linn / Marion County line.

On November 15, 2013 at approximately 8:43 p.m., an OSP trooper parked in the center median of Interstate 5 near milepost 195 saw a motorcycle entering the freeway traveling at a high rate of speed on the northbound onramp from westbound Beltline Road. The trooper pulled out, moved behind the motorcycle in the left northbound lane and saw that no license plate was visible, possibly folded upward to prevent it from being seen.

As traffic cleared near milepost 199, the motorcycle accelerated to a high rate of speed as the trooper activated overhead emergency lights and began to call out a traffic stop. The motorcycle's operator looked over his right shoulder toward the trooper's patrol car and sped up as the trooper tried to keep the motorcycle in sight.

In the vicinity of the Highway 34/Corvallis interchange, the trooper lost sight and terminated the pursuit. Shortly thereafter, Linn County Sheriff's Office deputies saw the motorcycle in the Albany area and the operator attempted to elude the deputies and an OSP trooper until they also terminated pursuit as the motorcycle entered Marion County north of Jefferson.

The trooper later stopped by Gateway area gas stations in the vicinity from where the blue & silver racing style motorcycle entered Interstate 5. Based upon the description of the motorcycle and clothing/helmet worn by the operator, attendants at an AM/PM gas station confirmed a matching motorcycle and operator purchased gas prior to 8:45 p.m. Photographs taken from video surveillance of the motorcycle and operator are provided with this news release.

The operator is described as a white male, late 20s - early 30s, dark hair and beard, wearing a camouflage jacket, dark colored pants and shoes, a dark colored back pack, and black full helmet with face shield. The motorcycle is a blue and silver colored unknown make or model racing style.

Anyone with information identifying the operator and motorcycle is asked to call Trooper Hank Duren at (541) 726-2536 ext. 403 or OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
