Linn County Victim's Impact Panel Hosting Annual "Tree of Remembrance" Ceremony - November 29, 2012
November 27, 2012

On Thursday, November 29, 2012, the Linn County Victim Impact Panel will be hosting their 15th annual "Tree of Remembrance" Ceremony. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Albany City Hall located at 333 SW Broadalbin Street.
This year's ceremony will feature incoming Linn County District Attorney Doug Marteeny as the featured guest speaker. Additionally, several members of the Eugene Symphony will be performing at the event.
At the ceremony, Christmas ornaments inscribed with the names of victims will be hung on the Tree of Remembrance. The ceremony provides on opportunity for our community to take time over the holiday season to remember those who have been killed or injured in Linn County by impaired drivers. After the ceremony, the tree will be placed in the Heritage Mall for display and to remind people not to drink and drive over the holidays.
If someone has a name they would like to add to the list and an ornament hung on the tree, please contact Albany Police Officer Robert Hayes at 541-917-7680 or Oregon State Police Sergeant Eric Judah at 541-967-2113.
The Linn County Victim Impact Panel exists to educate people convicted of DUII or other related offenses regarding how tragic impaired driving can be. After conviction for DUII, a judge imposes a jail term, a fine, or gives the individual conditions to be followed. One of the conditions may include that the individual be required to attend the DUII Victim Impact Panel. Additional information about the Linn County Victim Impact Panel can be found at www.lcvip.org.
