Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into a serious injury crash that occurred on the Crescent Cutoff Road in northern Klamath County. The crash left a twelve year old female passenger with serious injuries when she was partially ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

According to Trooper Nick Hagedorn on November 29, 2013 at approximately 11:25 p.m., a 1988 Ford Bronco, operated by LINK FONDA, age 41, from Crescent Lake, was westbound on the Crescent Cutoff Road near milepost 6, when he encountered a section of black ice and lost control of the vehicle. The Ford Bronco crossed the roadway into the eastbound ditch, where it rolled onto its top.

The two passengers were identified as BRITTANY LEWIS, age 31, and LEWIS' daughter, KATRINA ALCONHER, age 12, both from Elbert, Colorado. During the crash, ALCONHER was partially ejected leaving her lower body trapped under the vehicle. FONDA and LEWIS were wearing safety restraints and were transported by ground ambulance to Saint Charles Bend with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators determined that ALCONHER was not wearing safety restraints and she was transported by Life Flight air ambulance to Saint Charles Medical Center in Bend with Serious Injuries.

OSP troopers from the LaPine Worksite are continuing the investigation and no enforcement action has been taken.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Chemult EMS, Crescent EMS, and Life Flight of Redmond.
