A Josephine County man was arrested Saturday morning by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers on several charges including kidnap and assault after he allegedly took a female against her will from her residence.
On December 1, 2012 at approximately 9:35 a.m., OSP troopers responded to a reported disturbance at an Obrien area residence where a female called 9-1-1 reporting a known male was trying to take here against her will and then the phone disconnected. Attempts to call back at the residence were unsuccessful until a second call came in from the female reporting she needed medical assistance.
Two OSP troopers responded to the residence where the call came from but no one was home. A witness called 9-1-1 reporting a vehicle that left the residence was stopped about five miles away on Rockydale Road northeast of Obrien. Information indicated a male was seen forcing a female into the vehicle. After arriving at the scene the troopers contacted a male suspect and 45-year old female victim who had visible signs of injury not requiring transport to a hospital.
The male suspect, NORBERT CROFT, age 49, from Obrien, had a valid restraining order against him for contact with the female victim. CROFT was arrested by OSP for Kidnap in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Violation of a Restraining Order. CROFT was lodged in the Josephine County Jail.
