On December 19, 2012 at approximately 6:45 a.m., a 1995 Ford Dump Truck pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with heavy construction equipment driven by ROBERT LONG, age 65, from Newberg, turned into the right northbound lane of Highway 99W from a private driveway near milepost 19. Shortly after moving into the right lane a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by SANDRA L. FRICK, age 65, from Newberg, crashed into the left rear of the flatbed trailer. The rear of the trailer was embedded into the passenger compartment, dragging the car about two-tenths of a mile before the vehicles stopped on the shoulder of the highway.
FRICK was transported by Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University where she is reported in critical condition. LONG was not injured. All occupants were using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the McMinnville Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Jose Orosco is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Washington County Sheriff's Office, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Newberg Fire Department, and ODOT.
