On December 30, 2012 at approximately 6:45 a.m. a 2004 Ford F-350 pickup driven by TIMOTHY HANCOCK, age 26, from Hermiston, Oregon was eastbound on Interstate 84 in the left lane near milepost 192 when the driver lost control on an icy section of roadway. The pickup traveled into the center median and rolled before coming to rest on its top.
The pickup's passenger, FREEMAN GLENN THOMASON, age 69, from Post Falls, Idaho, was pronounced deceased at the scene. HANCOCK was transported by ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston with non-life threatening injures. He was also using safety restraints.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, Hermiston Fire & Rescue, Echo Fire Department, and ODOT. Trooper Joseph Dezso is the lead investigator.
