Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation of Sunday afternoon's single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 20 east of Bend that resulted in the death of a Middleton, Idaho man and serious injuries to the vehicle's driver. The names of the two occupants are released following confirmation that next of kin were notified by Canyon County, Idaho Sheriff's Office.
On December 29, 2013 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 1998 Dodge pickup driven by MATTHEW A. DREYER, age 35, from Star, Idaho, was traveling westbound on Highway 20 near milepost 31 negotiating a curve. The pickup went off the side of the highway and DREYER over-corrected trying to bring it back under control. DREYER was ejected and seriously injured. He was taken by Air Link ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
Passenger CHRISTOPHER H. JOHANSON, age 36, from Middleton, Idaho, was partially ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
