Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday afternoon's critical injury pedestrian-involved crash at the intersection of SE 82nd Avenue and Otty Road.

On January 3, 2011 at approximately 3:00 p.m. a 2004 Kia Rio four-door driven by SARAH E. GUENTHER, age 19, from Happy Valley, was turning from westbound Otty Road to southbound SE 82nd Avenue when it struck a female pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was crossing from the southwest corner of SE 82nd Avenue to the southeast side at the intersection.

The female pedestrian, CHASITY ANN BANKS, age 27, was critically injured and transported by ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University. BANKS reportedly lives in the Portland area and previously lived in Atlanta, Georgia. Her family has been contacted and she remains in critical condition Tuesday morning.

GUENTHER was not injured.

OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation and asking that any witnesses who have not spoken with investigators to please call Senior Trooper Dianne Roper at (503) 731-3020 ext. 465.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas Fire District 1, ODOT, and Clackamas County Highway Department.

Southbound lanes of SE 82nd Avenue were closed with a detour in place for 4 hours.

Upon completion of the investigation, OSP will review it with the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office prior to any enforcement decision.
