Update: Pedestrian Identified - Critical Injury Auto / Pedestrian Crash - Highway 99E

An unidentified adult female pedestrian critically injured Wednesday evening when struck by a car while attempting to cross Highway 99E near Vineyard Road has been identified and next of kin notified. Positive identification was made with the help of Portland Police Bureau and next of kin were located and notified with the help of an Oregon Health Sciences University social worker.
The pedestrian is identified as JEANA FAY CURETON, age 37, a Milwaukie resident. She remains in intensive care at OHSU.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Recruit Trooper Tracy Clark, on January 7, 2009 at approximately 7:33 p.m. a 1993 Plymouth Sundance two-door driven by NATHALIA P. MABBOTT, age 36, from Milwaukie, was northbound on Highway 99E near Vineyard Road when it struck a pedestrian pushing a shopping cart filled with wood and personal items from the west to the east side of the highway. The collision was not in a marked crosswalk.
CURETON was critically injured and transported to Oregon Health Sciences University.
MABBOTT was not injured.
Highway 99E northbound was closed for an hour during the on-scene investigation.
OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas County Fire District #1 and AMR ambulance assisted.
