Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 30 west of Rainier

A Clatskanie-area woman died Friday evening when her car was involved in a crash with a sport utility vehicle on Highway 30 west of Rainier.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Larry Lucas, on January 9, 2009 at approximately 6:00 p.m. a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire two-door driven by ANNA URBAN, age 27, from Clatskanie, was westbound on Highway 30 near milepost 52 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 1990 Mitsubishi Montero sport utility vehicle. The Mitsubishi came to a stop off the highway overturned onto its side. The Pontiac came to a stop on the highway.
URBAN was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was reportedly not using safety restraints.
The Mitsubishi's driver, JAMES AYDELOTTE, age 33, from Eagle, Idaho, was using safety restraints and received non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by Clatskanie Fire Department to St. Johns Medical Center in Kelso, Washington.
OSP troopers from the St. Helens and Astoria offices are continuing the investigation.
Highway 30 was closed about 3 1/2 hours as traffic was re-routed onto area roadways.
Rainier Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Clatskanie Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
