A 75-year old Oregon City woman died and her 8-year old great-grandson received non-life threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon when their car collided with a commercial truck at the intersection of Highway 211 and Canby-Marquam Highway west of Molalla. Highway 211 re-opened at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Preliminary investigation indicates on January 13, 2009 at approximately 12:45 p.m. a 2003 Buick Park Avenue driven by DONNA JEANETTE LANE, age 75, from Oregon City, was southbound on the Canby-Marquam Highway when it failed to come to a complete stop for a stop sign at the Highway 211 intersection. The Buick turned left in front of a westbound commercial truck driven by KARMJAT MANN, age 51, from Yuba City, California. Following a near head-on collision, the truck continued off Highway 211 jackknifing until it came to a stop. The car came to a stop on the roadway.
LANE was not using safety restraints and was ejected. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim's great-grandson, JOSEPH FELICIANO, age 8, from Oregon City, was using safety restraints. He was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University with non-life threatening injuries.
MANN was using safety restraints and was not injured. He was driving for Hammell Transport Services Inc. transporting ice cream products.
Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Molalla Police Department, Molalla Fire & Rescue, ODOT, and Clackamas County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
