A Washington man was arrested last Tuesday when an Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop in the Lakeview area led troopers to discover over 10 pounds of marijuana along with psilocybin mushrooms and LSD concealed in his vehicle. The OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
According to Sergeant Steve Yates, on January 11, 2011 at about 1:24 p.m., an OSP trooper stopped a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina displaying Washington license plates eastbound on North 4th Street in Lakeview for lane use and speed violations. The driver was identified as RUSSELL JAY HELLER, age 46, from Seattle, Washington.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 10 pounds of marijuana concealed in various locations within the vehicle. Also discovered were over two ounces of psilocybin mushrooms and 25 doses of LSD.
HELLER was arrested and lodged in the Lake County Jail on the following charges:
  • Unlawful Possession, Delivery and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana
  • Unlawful Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance – LSD
  • Unlawful Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance - Psilocybin mushrooms
  • Misdemeanor warrant for DUII out of Jackson County, Oregon
As of January 17, HELLER is still in custody at the jail.
OSP troopers and Drug Enforcement Section detectives were assisted on the scene by Lake County Sheriff's Department.
