Two Washington men were arrested early Tuesday morning when an Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop north of Ontario led troopers to discover over 12 pounds of marijuana concealed in the vehicle.  The OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
On January 25, 2011 at about 12:39 a.m., an OSP trooper stopped a 1999 Infiniti I30 displaying Washington license plates eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 375 for a lane use traffic violation. The driver was identified as CHARLES JOSHUA VILLARUEL, age 34, from Tacoma, Washington and the right front passenger was identified as GENE EDRALIN BASILIO, age 37, from Spanaway, Washington.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 12  1/2 pounds of marijuana concealed in the trunk of the vehicle.  Estimated value of the seized marijuana is over $31,000.
VILLARUEL AND BASILIO were arrested and lodged in the Malheur County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
