Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested two Eureka, California residents early Thursday morning at an Ontario area truck stop when they were found in possession of approximately 2 pounds of marijuana and a small amount of hashish.
According to OSP Lieutenant Richard Pileggi, on January 29, 2009 at approximately 2:30 a.m. OSP Senior Trooper Greg Walker and Recruit Ryan Mills were patrolling in the Ontario area when they noted a car parked at Loves Truck Stop along Highway 201 and Interstate 84. When the officers contacted the male and female occupants to determine if they needed assistance, the officers noted a strong odor of marijuana from their 1989 Buick Century displaying Oregon license plates.
Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of approximately 2 pounds of marijuana and 4 grams of hashish in the vehicle. An Ontario police drug detection canine assisted at the scene. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is about $5,000.
Both individuals were taken into custody without incident. They are identified as DAVID SCAFIDI, age 27, and ZOE MERRILL, age 24, both from Eureka, California. They were lodged in the Malheur County Jail for:
  • Unlawful Possession, Manufacturing and Delivery of Marijuana
  • Unlawful Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Hashish
