Update: Victims Identified - Double Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 101 south of Seal Rock

The driver of a vehicle involved in a single vehicle traffic crash that resulted in the death of two men Tuesday morning south of Seal Rock remains in custody in the Lincoln County Jail. The names of the two deceased passengers are being released in this update as OSP troopers, with the assistance of Lincoln County District Attorney's Office, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Newport Police Department continue the investigation.
The two passenger victims are identified as:
  • HUMBERTO PINEDA PALILLO, age 24, from Newport
  • MELVIN ROLANDO ESCOBAR DE LA ROSA, age 30, from Newport
On February 2, 2011 at approximately 1:00 p.m. an OSP trooper arrested JOSE MANUEL DE LEON-COLOMO, age 24, from Newport, after he was released from Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail in Newport and remains in custody on the following charges:
  • Two (2) counts of Manslaughter in the First Degree
  • Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants
  • Two (2) counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person
  • Reckless Driving
