A tip received Wednesday from Gresham Police Department related to Tuesday afternoon's two-vehicle serious injury hit and run crash on Highway 26 east of Gresham helped Oregon State Police (OSP) identify and take into custody a 14-year old Gresham-area boy Wednesday afternoon, February 8, 2012.

OSP detectives and troopers, with the assistance of Gresham police, contacted the boy who is a student at Sam Barlow High School. Subsequent to that contact he was taken into custody for Felony Hit & Run and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Information developed indicates the suspect juvenile stole the van from a rural nursery east of Gresham and was alone at the time of the traffic crash. He had no visible injury but was taken to an area hospital for an examination. After release, he was transported to Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Facility. His name is not being released at this time.
