Death Investigation - Highway 58 near Oakridge

With the assistance of the medical examiner's office, Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation to determine the cause of death of an unidentified white male adult found on a hiking trail off Highway 58 near Oakridge. There is no evidence at this time that the death is the result of foul play or criminal activity.
According to OSP Senior Trooper Erich Schermerhorn, on February 21, 2011 at approximately 12 noon a hiker discovered the body of a deceased unidentified while male in the woods near Middle Fork Trail. The location is off Highway 58 near milepost 34.
There is no other information for release at this time pending determination of the cause of death and positive identification.
OSP troopers from the Oakridge and Springfield offices are continuing the investigation.
