The AMBER ALERT issued earlier today in California, Oregon and Nevada is deactivated following the safe recovery of the child in California.
The AMBER ALERT issued March 2, 2009 related to the Yreka, California reported abduction of a 3-year old girl is deactivated. The child, FRANCIS ANN COLLINS, was reportedly located safe by California Highway Patrol in northern California.
The suspect, KODY LEE KAPLON, is in custody.
Questions may be directed to Lieutenant Dave Gamache, Yreka Police Department, at (530) 841-2305 and Jamie Coffey, California Highway Patrol, at (916) 657-7202.
Following Oregon's AMBER ALERT activation based upon a request from Yreka Police Department, there were a few reported possible sightings of a matching vehicle description. Numerous Oregon State Police troopers responded to these sightings, most of which were on Interstate 5, in attempt to confirm the report and help locate the involved vehicle.
