Troopers Arrest Happy Valley Man After Methamphetamine, Cocaine Found During Traffic Stop

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers, assisted by a narcotics detection canine, arrested a Happy Valley-area man and seized approximately 6 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.6 pounds of cocaine concealed in a vehicle during a Saturday afternoon traffic stop on Interstate 5 north of Medford.
 
On March 1, 2008 at approximately 10:45 a.m. OSP troopers stopped a 2001 Honda Civic for a speed violation northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 37. During the contact with the driver, MANUEL MARTINEZ-PARDO, age 24, from Happy Valley, troopers received consent to search the vehicle. With the assistance of an OSP narcotic detection canine, troopers found several packages of suspected narcotics. In total, approximately 6 pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated $96,000 and 1.6 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $15,000 were seized.
 
MARTINEZ–PARDO was subsequently taken into custody and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on the following charges:
  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine
  • Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine
  • Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine
  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
 
OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office were involved in the initial stop. Follow up investigation is being conducted by OSP Drug Enforcement Section detectives.
