Burglary suspect HOWARD BRANDON HUGHES, age 28, was arrested Friday afternoon without incident by detectives from Oregon State Police (OSP), Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Klamath Falls Police Department. Earlier in the day the public was asked to help locate HUGHES after a Monday night OSP traffic stop later identified him as a suspect in a recent burglary.
Previously released information:
According to OSP Sergeant Patrick Trippett, on February 28, 2011 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Trooper Derrek Ellena conducted a traffic stop that led the arrest of HUGHES on unrelated warrants. HUGHES was lodged in the Klamath County Jail and later released.
Information developed related to the traffic stop led to a search warrant being authorized and issued. On March 2, 2011 OSP troopers, with the assistance of detectives from Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Klamath Falls Police Department, served the search warrant at a private residence in the 3800 block of Bisbee Street in Klamath Falls. Investigators seized suspected stolen property including jewelry, a knife, and a savings bond. A rifle and small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana were also seized.
HUGHES will be lodged in the Klamath County Jail on pending charges.
