Public Information Officer
(503) 731-3020 ext. 247

Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives and troopers are continuing the investigation into the suspicious death of an adult female whose body was found early Sunday morning on the shoulder of Highway 99 about one mile south of Goshen. Investigators are working to confirm if the woman's death was motor vehicle-related. The victim's name and other information not provided in this news release is withheld pending completion of next of kin notifications and the ongoing investigation.
According to OSP Detective Dusty Sprague, preliminary information indicates on March 6, 2011 at approximately 2:22 a.m. a 9-1-1 call was received reporting a woman's body was on the shoulder of Highway 99 near milepost 1. The 9-1-1 was made a person who knew the victim but their name is withheld along with other details as mentioned above.
OSP troopers, Lane County Sheriff's Office, and Goshen Fire Department responded and confirmed the report of a deceased adult female at that location. OSP started the investigation and has found no evidence indicating her death was related to a hit and run vehicle.
OSP is continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Lane County District Attorney's Office. Additional information is anticipated for release Monday.
Highway 99 was closed at the scene for about three hours.
