A 28-year old psychiatric patient from Oregon State Hospital reported on unauthorized leave during a Wednesday outing in Eugene is still missing. JOHN EASTMAN, age 28, is not believed to be a danger to himself or others; however, he should be not approached. Anyone seeing EASTMAN should call Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888 or 9-1-1.
On March 9, 2011, EASTMAN was with a hospital staff member at the International House of Pancakes located at 355 East Broadway in Eugene. He did not return to staff after using the restroom at approximately 12:20 p.m. Hospital officials reported the escape to State and local police.
EASTMAN is described as a white male, 5'11", 186 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has several self-made tattoos, including a swastika on his left ankle, the letters "LA" on his left arm, and an "S" on the thumb of his right hand. When last seen, he was wearing a black knit cap, black sweatshirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.
EASTMAN was admitted from Lane County to the Oregon State Hospital Salem campus on July 17, 2003 as a forensic commitment on a conviction of burglary, theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
