The daughter of a woman who died February 25, 2010 after she was run over by a vehicle on Highway 26 in the Rhododendron area was arrested Wednesday night by Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives on a warrant unrelated to the ongoing death investigation.

SAMANTHA L. DANIELS, age 19, from southeast Portland, was arrested March 10th at 6:45 p.m. at the OSP Portland Area Command office when she arrived to meet with detectives regarding the death investigation. DANIELS was wanted on two outstanding warrants charging Probation Violation (Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Heroin) and Failure to Appear – Theft in the Second Degree. She was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail.

OSP detectives are continuing the investigation into the death of DANIELS' mother, BRIDGET McGOWAN (aka: Bridget Maureen Sherbahn), age 52, from Gresham, on February 25th, after she was found critically injured on the westbound lanes near milepost 44. The initial investigation confirmed there was a reported verbal disturbance involving the victim and SAMANTHA DANIELS who was visiting with her 21-year old boyfriend at a cabin rented by the victim and victim's boyfriend. The victim fell from the passenger compartment of the pickup and was run over as it was leaving the scene westbound.

The white 1996 Dodge pickup with camper was spotted by an OSP trooper westbound near milepost 29 east of Sandy. At the time of the stop, DANIELS was seated in the driver's position and her boyfriend, CODY MICHAEL WAGNER, was in the passenger seat.

Since the start of this investigation, detectives learned DANIELS provided a false name. Once her true identity was learned, detectives discovered she was wanted on the warrants for which she was arrested.

The Clackamas County District Attorney's Office is assisting with this ongoing death investigation.
