Driver Arrested Following Alcohol-Involved Injury Crash - Highway 207 south of Hermiston

A Heppner-area man was arrested Thursday night by Oregon State Police (OSP) following an investigation into an alcohol-involved single vehicle injury traffic crash on Highway 207 near the Umatilla/Morrow County line. With St. Patrick's Day weekend upon us, this crash is a reminder from OSP and other law enforcement agencies to drive sober or you risk arrest, or hurting or killing yourself or someone else. On March 15, 2012 at approximately 6:50 p.m. a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by JERRY LEE MANLEY, age 38, from Heppner, was northbound on Highway 207 near Big Butter Creek Road about milepost 20. The pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed when MANLEY lost control and crashed. MANLEY and passenger MAUNA KAY PATTERSON, age 51, from Pendleton, were transported by ambulance to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston with non-life threatening injuries.
 
Upon release from the hospital, OSP arrested MANLEY on the following charges:
  • Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants --- Alcohol
  • Assault in the Third Degree
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person
  • Reckless Driving
 
MANLEY was also cited for Driving While Suspended. He was lodged in the Umatilla County Jail.

Lead investigator is Trooper Mark Amos. OSP was assisted at the scene by local emergency responders and ODOT. The highway was temporarily closed during the scene investigation.
