Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a single-vehicle crash on Highway 126E near Vida that left two Blue River-area men dead.
According to OSP Sergeant Michael Brewster, on March 20, 2010 at approximately 8:13 p.m., a 1956 Ford sedan driven by KENNETH CRAIG MARX, age 64, from Blue River, was eastbound on Highway 126E at milepost 33 negotiating a curve when, for an unknown reason, it left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle traveled down an embankment before coming to rest. Both MARX and his passenger SEAN BALDWIN SHAUGHNESSY, age 54, from Blue River, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Troopers report that it appears neither occupant was wearing safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. OSP was assisted on scene by ODOT and McKenzie Fire & Rescue.
The eastbound lane was closed for approximately 5 hours during the investigation.
