Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to identify the vehicle and driver involved in a Friday night fatal hit and run crash that resulted in the death of an Estacada-area man on Highway 224 east of Estacada.
On March 27, 2009 at approximately 9:27 p.m. CHARLES BRUCE MILLS, age 38, from Estacada, was struck by an unidentified vehicle while walking on Highway 224 about one-half mile east of the Highway 211 junction.  OSP troopers and local emergency personnel responded to a reported traffic collision near milepost 24, and upon arrival found the victim deceased in the middle of the highway.
Witnesses to the collision stated the car that struck the man immediately fled the scene and has not been located.
Highway 224 was closed in both directions for about four hours while the Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the incident. Based on witness statements and evidence from the scene, OSP are looking for a white newer model Ford sedan with significant front end and right side damage.
Anyone with information about the vehicle, driver or collision is asked to contact the Oregon State Police at (503) 731-3030.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department, Estacada Fire Department, Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office, and ODOT.
