Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 293 south of Antelope

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers completed the investigation into a Saturday afternoon motor vehicle crash on Highway 293 south of Antelope that resulted in the death of a 97-year old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle.

According to OSP Senior Trooper Clint Prevett, on March 27, 2010 at approximately 2:15 p.m. DONALD ALLEN LUCAS, age 74, from Antelope, was operating a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on Highway 293 near milepost 12. LUCAS was negotiating a left curve when he drifted onto the eastbound shoulder, traveled down the embankment, and struck a large rock causing the vehicle to roll over. The vehicle came to rest off of the roadway.

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts and were transported to Mountain View Hospital in Madras for treatment of their injuries.

ROBERTA LUCAS, age 97, from Antelope, was the right front passenger in the vehicle operated by her husband She died later from injuries sustained in the crash.

Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.
