The Oregon State Police (OSP), in cooperation with Crime Stoppers, is asking for your help in identifying the suspect vehicle and driver involved in a hit and run crash that resulted in the death of an Estacada man.
On March 27, 2009, at approximately 9:27 p.m., Charles Bruce Mills, 38, was struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle while walking along Highway 224 about one-half mile east of the Highway 211 junction. Responding OSP troopers and emergency personnel found the deceased victim in the middle of the highway near milepost 24. The unidentified suspect vehicle and driver were last seen heading westbound on Highway 224 away from the scene.
Based on witness statements and evidence found at the scene, OSP is looking for a white, 1992-1994 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable, with right front and right side damage. Evidence left at the scene indicates that the suspect vehicle has a broken right front corner turn signal lens cover and the right side view mirror glass is broken from the casing. Investigators believe the mirror casing is intact.
Photographs of the similar year and model of the suspect vehicle are available at the following links:
