OSP Traffic Stop Leads to 10 lbs. Marijuana, Firearm and Arrest

Oregon State Police arrested a Sedro Woolley, Washington man Tuesday when over 10 pounds of marijuana and a loaded firearm was found during a traffic stop in the sport utility vehicle on Interstate 5 near Ashland.

On April 7, 2009 at approximately 11:50 a.m. an OSP trooper from the Central Point Area Command office stopped a 2008 GMC Yukon for a traffic violation northbound Interstate 5 near milepost 11. Subsequent investigative efforts during the traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 10 1/2 pounds of marijuana in large bags in the vehicle. Also found concealed near the driver's seat was a loaded handgun.
Estimated value of the seized marijuana is approximately $25,000.

KEVIN M. MILLS, age 29, from Sedro Woolley, Washington, was arrested and lodged in Jackson County Jail for Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Jackson County Jail staff reported MILLS bailed out.
