Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 99 north of Cottage Grove

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into an early Sunday morning two-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 99 north of Cottage Grove that resulted in the death of a Cottage Grove woman and the arrest of the offending driver on several charges.
On April 8, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m. a head-on collision occurred between a pickup and passenger car on Highway 99 near Saginaw Road. Initial scene investigation indicates a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup driven by JEREMY C. HENRY, age 33, Cottage Grove, was northbound on Highway 99 when it lost control, traveled across the centerline and crashed head-on into a southbound 2010 Ford Focus driven by TERESA MARIE GRONDONA, age 40, from Cottage Grove.
GRONDONA was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend where she was pronounced deceased.
HENRY was transported to Cottage Grove Community Hospital with minor injuries. He was treated and released then arrested by OSP. HENRY was lodged in the Lane County Jail on the following charges:
  • Manslaughter in the Second Degree
  • Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants - Alcohol
  • Reckless Driving
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. ODOT, Cottage Grove Police Department, local fire personnel and Lane County District Attorney's Office assisted. The highway was closed about 7 hours during the scene investigation.
