Gresham Man Arrested on 20 Sex Offense Counts out of Deschutes County

A Gresham-area man was arrested Monday on 20 felony sex offense counts based upon warrants issued in Deschutes County.  The charges are related to an Oregon State Police (OSP) investigation into allegations the suspect sexually abused a male relative during a three year period when they lived in the Redmond area.

On April 14, 2008 at 12:46 p.m. OSP arrested TRAVIS BENJAMIN AMONSON, age 22, at his Gresham area apartment and lodged him in the Multnomah County Justice Center.  Bail is set at $500,000 pending an appearance in Deschutes County Circuit Court.  An OSP investigation that started February 20, 2008 led to AMONSON being indicted by a Deschutes County Grand Jury on the following charges:

* Sodomy in the First Degree (4 counts)
* Incest (4 counts)
* Sex Abuse in the First Degree (8 counts)
* Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree (2 counts)
* Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree (2 counts)

The alleged abuse occurred when the victim was between the age of 9 and 12.
