A Hillsboro, Oregon woman was cited by Oregon State Police on multiple charges Friday morning following her attempt to elude State, county and city police officers over thirty miles on Interstate 84 in the La Grande area.
On April 17, 2009 at approximately 9:59 a.m. Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Rick Madsen from the Pendleton OSP office attempted to stop a red 2005 Mercedes C230 four-door eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 238 for going 97 mph in a 65 mph speed zone. The driver failed to yield and attempted to elude the trooper eastbound reaching speeds exceeding 110 mph as OSP troopers, Union County sheriff deputies, and La Grande police officers moved into position to assist.
East of La Grande, city police successfully deployed spike strips deflating the car's left side tires. Continuing at speeds over 80 mph on deflated tires the driver lost control near milepost 271 and crashed into the center divider.
The driver, ONEDONNA INTHAVONG, age 34, from Hillsboro, was transported by ambulance to Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande for treatment of minor injuries. She was cited and released at the hospital pending further medical care.
At the request of OSP, the Union County Sheriffs Office conducted the crash investigation. La Grande Fire Department and ODOT also assisted.
