An Eagle Creek-area woman died sometime during the night after losing control of her car on Highway 211 about one mile south of Estacada and crashing into a creek. The crash was discovered Saturday morning by a passing motorist.
According to Trooper Cameron Bailey, on April 19, 2008 at 7:20 a.m. a report was received from a passing motorist of a traffic crash scene down an embankment on the west side of Highway 211 near S. Hayden Road about milepost 32. Emergency personnel responded and found a deceased female operator inside the vehicle.
Preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred sometime overnight when NANCI SUE GARRISON, age 43, from Eagle Creek, was driving a 1988 Acura two-door northbound on Highway 211. GARRISON was negotiating a right curve when her car crossed the highway, drove down an embankment about 15 feet through heavy brush before coming to rest in a creek on its wheels. The vehicle received extensive passenger side damage.
GARRISON was not using safety restraints.
Information indicates road conditions were possibly icy during the night.
Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are completing the investigation. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Estacada Fire Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
