Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday night's fatal pedestrian-involved traffic crash along Highway 99E just south of Woodburn. The victim's name is being released in this update following confirmation of next of kin notification.
On April 16, 2011 at approximately 8:27 p.m. a witness driving southbound on Highway 99E near milepost 33 braked to avoid a female pedestrian in a dark, unlit area who ran across the highway toward the west side shoulder. A 2005 Dodge Neon driven by ROBERT MOORE, age 56, from Woodburn, was following behind the witness and swerved toward the highway shoulder to avoid a rear-end collision. The Dodge Neon struck the pedestrian, identified as SUSAN ELIZABETH DORHMAN LARSON, age 56, from Woodburn. DORHMAN LARSON was pronounced deceased at the scene before LifeFlight was able to transport her to a hospital.
MOORE was not injured.
OSP troopers from the Salem Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Woodburn Police Department, Woodburn Fire Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
The OSP investigation is continuing and no enforcement decision has been made at this time.
Highway 99E was closed at the scene for about 3 hours. There is no designated crosswalk where the collision took place.
