Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the medical examiner's office, are continuing the investigation into Thursday afternoon's single vehicle rollover traffic crash on Interstate 5 near Ashland that later resulted in the death of a 65-year old woman. The cause of the crash may have been the result of a medical emergency suffered by the driver.

On April 19, 2012 at approximately 4:06 p.m. a 1996 Mazda MPV van driven by MARLEEN B. WALMSLEY, age 65, from Ashland, was southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 16 when it traveled off the roadway, struck a highway sign and rolled. When emergency responders arrived on scene WALMSLEY was unresponsive so they started CPR before transporting her to Ashland Community Hospital. She was reportedly transferred to Rogue Valley Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.

OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Senior Trooper Brett Keller is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Jackson County Fire District #5 and ODOT.
