A 56-year old Junction City man died Tuesday afternoon when he may have suffered a medical problem while driving on Highway 101 about twelve miles north of Reedsport and crashed into a guardrail.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Recruit Trooper Tiffany Crutchfield, on April 21, 2009 at approximately 12:30 p.m. a pickup driven by ROBERT EUGENE BOYLE, age 56, from Junction City, was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 200 when it left the highway and drove up an embankment. The pickup came back across the highway and crashed into a guardrail on the southbound shoulder.
Two witnesses stopped and unsuccessfully attempted to provide CPR before BOYLE was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command office are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the medical examiner. Local emergency responders and ODOT assisted at the scene.
