Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into an early Tuesday morning single vehicle crash on Highway 227 (Tiller Trail Highway) about four miles north of Trail that resulted in the death of one person.

According to OSP Sergeant Steve Mitchell, on April 27, 2010 at about 3:30 a.m. a 1998 Honda CRV operated by BETH WILCOX, age 52, from Trail, was northbound on Highway 227 near milepost 49. For an unknown reason, the Honda CRV drifted onto the northbound shoulder and collided nearly head on with a concrete bridge abutment on the westbound shoulder. The Honda came to rest on its side near a small creek.

WILCOX was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was wearing a lap and shoulder belt at the time of the crash.

OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are continuing their investigation. The northbound lane of travel was closed for about three hours.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Fire District 4, and Mercy Flights.
