Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a Forest Grove-area man Monday morning after he was indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury in relation to the late November 2011 theft of an $80,000 trail construction machine and trailer stolen from L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park. The property was recovered one month later following an anonymous tip.
On April 30, 2012 at approximately 10:00 a.m. OSP troopers arrested DONALD LEE GOODWIN, age 67, at his home without incident. GOODWIN was indicted as part of the ongoing investigation after an anonymous tip led detectives and troopers to his property December 30th where the stolen "Northwest Trail Alliance" trail construction machine and trailer was found hidden in a forested area. The trailer was cut apart and numerous items previously inside were burned.
The recovered trail construction machine was returned later to "Northwest Trail Alliance".
GOODWIN was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging Aggravated Theft and lodged in the Washington County Jail pending an appearance in court.
An additional arrest is pending.
The investigation is led by Detective Chris Schinnerer with the help of OSP troopers from the North Plains work site.
