OSP Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Over 2 lbs of Crystal Methamphetamine - Interstate 5 near Ashland

An Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop Monday morning on Interstate 5 northbound near Ashland led to the arrest of a Federal Way, Washington man following the seizure of over two pounds of crystal methamphetamine.
On May 2, 2011 at approximately 7:30 a.m. an OSP Trooper stopped a 2005 Nissan Altima northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 14 for a traffic violation. The lone occupant was identified as FROYLAN GARCIA, age 41, from Federal Way, Washington.  Subsequent investigation related to the traffic stop with the assistance of an OSP drug detection canine led to the discovery of approximately 2 1/2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine inside tupperware containers concealed inside the vehicle.
GARCIA was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail for Unlawful Possession, Distribution and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance - Crystal Methamphetamine.
Members from the Oregon State Police Drug Enforcement Section assisted with the investigation.
The seized crystal methamphetamine has an estimated value of approximately $60,000.
