Oregon State Police (OSP) and Brookings Police Department (BPD) arrested a federal fugitive early Saturday at a Brookings-area bar where he was working as a disc jockey. The man was sought by US Marshals Service and Oakland County, Michigan Sheriff's Office for two arrest warrants.
According to Senior Trooper Jess Oliver, information was received from the US Marshals Service and Oakland County, Michigan Sheriff's Office that a wanted fugitive named CRAIG THOMAS BALOG, age 30, was possibly in the Brookings area working at a local business. Follow up investigation by BPD and OSP confirmed BALOG was working at the 101 Bar and Grill in the 98000 block of West Benham Lane.
BALOG, who was considered by the US Marshals Service as armed and dangerous, was wanted on a federal warrant for Probation Violation. He was also wanted out of Oakland County, Michigan on a warrant charging Failure to Appear for Sentencing.
On May 5, 2012 at approximately 2:25 a.m. officers from OSP and BPD located BALOG and took him into custody without incident as a Fugitive from Justice.
He was lodged in the Curry County Jail.
