OSP Detectives Arrest St. Helens Man for Sex Crimes

Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division detectives arrested a St. Helens man Friday on accusations of various sex crimes.  The man is a former Columbia County Sheriff's Deputy who left their department about one year ago.
On May 6, 2011, OSP detectives arrested JOHN LAWRENCE HINKLE, age 47, from St. Helens, and lodged him in the Columbia County jail.  HINKLE was scheduled to be arraigned May 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Authorities expect to file multiple charges including Rape in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, and Incest.  Furthermore, it is anticipated that the matter will be presented to the Columbia County Grand Jury on May 12.
