Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Wednesday afternoon's two vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a Grants Pass-area man on Highway 199 approximately eight miles south of Grants Pass.
On May 11, 2011 at approximately 2:00 p.m. a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by DALE ALLEN MUSKOPH, age 77, from Grants Pass, had just turned onto Highway 199 to travel northbound from Ingalls Lane when, for an unknown reason, it crossed into the southbound lane. The Ford Taurus struck the left rear duel wheels of a semi-trailer being pulled by a Freightliner truck driven by MICHAEL RAHN, age 43, from Crescent City, California. RAHN reportedly steered toward the right shoulder in attempt to avoid colliding with the Ford Taurus.
MUSKOPH was pronounced deceased at the scene.
RAHN was not injured. The commercial truck and trailer are owned by D & W Bulb Farms.
Safety restraint use information is not available for this release.
OSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Wilderville Rural/Metro Fire Department, Josephine County Sheriff's Office, and ODOT.
