A Molalla-area man has been identified as the victim of an apparent hit & run crash on Highway 211 south of Colton. Oregon State Police (OSP), working in conjunction with the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office and Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, believe the incident occurred during the early morning hours of Friday and the victim's body was found later that afternoon.
According to OSP Sergeant Dan Swift, on May 16, 2008 at approximately 1:15 p.m. a utility worker spotted a body in the ditch on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 211 near milepost 17. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim, JUSTIN L. WHITE, age 23, from Molalla, was walking in the area of the highway toward Colton where his mother lives at about 2:00 a.m. when he was struck from behind by an unknown eastbound vehicle.
Scene evidence indicates the involved vehicle should have extensive front damage including the headlight assembly area.
WHITE was wearing dark clothing. Investigators do not know if he was walking on the highway or on the shoulder.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Oregon State Police Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
The eastbound lane was closed for about three hours. ODOT assisted with traffic control.
