OSP Seeking Public's Help Related to Residential Asphalt / Driveway Repair Investigations
05/17/2011
Sergeant Jeff Proulx
Criminal Investigations Division
(541) 776-6114

The Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division is asking for the public's help regarding a southern Oregon multi-county investigation related to door-to-door solicitations to seal residential asphalt and driveways.

During the last year OSP detectives have investigated about ten reported cases involving a father/son team targeting the elderly in Klamath, Jackson, Douglas and Coos counties. The suspects go door-to-door providing low repair cost quotes, and then after completing the work they increase the price to get more money from the victim. The initial quoted repair costs start at over $100 and at least one known victim was required to pay over $1300 when the work was completed.

The suspects provide a false address and cell phone numbers, and also claim they currently or previously worked for local reputable companies. OSP detectives have identified the suspects but are not releasing their information because of the ongoing investigation.

OSP detectives believe there may have been other victims. If you or anyone you know was a victim of these fraudulent services please contact:
