Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to locate the vehicle and driver involved in a Saturday afternoon injury hit and run crash on Highway 101 just south of the Brookings city limits.

According to OSP Recruit Trooper Jess Oliver, on May 16, 2009 at approximately 5:13 p.m. a silver 2007 Jeep four-door with two occupants was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 358 when a southbound green 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe attempted a u-turn directly in the Jeep's path. The Jeep collided with the right rear of the green Chevrolet Tahoe causing moderate damage to both vehicles.

After impact the green Chevrolet Tahoe was observed by witnesses fleeing southbound without stopping at the scene. A witness reported the suspect vehicle was displaying Arkansas license plate 470 NPK and had obvious right rear damage.

The unidentified driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a Hispanic male with a shaved head.

The Jeep's 66-year old female driver and 84-year old male passenger, both from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, were transported by ambulance to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle's location and driver's identification is asked to call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 247-7050.
