Fatal Traffic Crash - Interstate 5 near Brooks

A single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 5 near Brooks has resulted in the death of an adult male.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Dave Kammerman, on May 19, 2012 at approximately 12:03 a.m. a 2004 Nissan 350Z driven by DAVID P. FORREST, age 22, from Canby, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 265 when it drifted off the right shoulder of the freeway, drove through a grassy area, and crashed into a large tree. FORREST was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. There were no road closures or delays.
OSP troopers from the Salem Area Command office were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Marion County Fire District. A chaplain from the Canby Police Department assisted with the next of kin notifications.
