Newport-area OSP Troopers Receive Awards at Lincoln County Law Enforcement Banquet

Two Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Newport Area Command office were given special recognition May 15th at the 2009 Lincoln County Law Enforcement Banquet.
 
OSP Fish & Wildlife Division Senior Trooper Ryan Kehr, an 8-year veteran with OSP, received the “Employee of the Year” award for the OSP Newport office.  This award is given to an employee from each law enforcement agency in the Lincoln County area in recognition of their outstanding work during the previous year for the respective agency.
 
OSP Patrol Services Division Senior Trooper Greg Plummer, a 9-year OSP veteran, received the “DUII Enforcement Officer of the Year” for the OSP Newport office.  The award is given to an employee from each Lincoln County-area law enforcement agency that has arrested the highest number of DUII drivers during the previous year.  Senior Trooper Plummer has received this award five times in the last 9 years, and was also recently presented a similar award by the Oregon DUII Multi-Disciplinary Training Task Force.  During 2008, Plummer made 45 DUII arrests and conducted 16 Drug Recognition Evaluations.  He also instructed at DRE school training and gave Standardized Field Sobriety Testing training to help local law enforcement and the US Coast Guard personnel at Yaquina Bay investigate possible Boating Under the Influence of Intoxicant cases.
