OSP Traffic Stop Near Sisters Leads to Discovery of Deer Poaching, Arrest of 4 Men

Four Bend-area men are facing charges after an Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop on Monday led to the discovery of deer poaching in Jefferson County, including the killing of a buck and pregnant doe.
 
On May 21, 2012, an OSP trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 20 near Sisters. During the traffic stop the trooper discovered evidence related to deer poaching. OSP Fish & Wildlife division troopers and Black Butte police responded to assist with the ongoing investigation during which it was discovered the four vehicle occupants killed a buck and pregnant doe near Jack Creek in the Metolius Unit. Troopers subsequently located the scene and recovered evidence. Three rifles were also seized from the following four suspects who were arrested and lodged in the Jefferson County Jail:

* Illegal Possession of Deer
* Aiding in a Wildlife Crime
 
JASON A. DEITHCHLER, age 39, from Bend
* Illegal Possession of Deer
* Aiding in a Wildlife Crime
