Union County Marijuana Investigation Leads to Two Arrests

Two Union County men were arrested last week following a two-month undercover drug investigation that led to the seizure of over 8 pounds of marijuana, cash and firearms.
On May 22, 2008, Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives arrested CALVIN PERRY KIESECKER, age 67, at the Flying J Truck Stop in Union County. KIESECKER was the subject of an undercover drug investigation and was arrested after selling 10 ounces of marijuana. KIESECKER was lodged in the Union County Jail for Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana.
The ongoing investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at 1309 4th Street in La Grande. Detectives arrested TOM R. BOBBITT, age 55, after locating over 8 pounds of marijuana, approximately $11,000 cash, and three firearms at the residence. BOBBITT was lodged in Union County Jail on the following charges:
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a School
  • Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a School
  • Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a School
Lead investigator, OSP Detective Dan Conner who is assigned to the Baker County Narcotics Enforcement Team, was assisted by uniformed officers from Union County Sheriff's Office and La Grande Police Department.
